How can I get involved in advocacy efforts?
Our volunteers can be involved in legislation and women's rights issues by advocating for policy changes that promote gender equality with our legislative committee. We help you collaborate with your local officials and community leaders to raise awareness about key issues affecting women, such as access to menstrual products, reproductive rights, and workplace equity.
Additionally, our volunteers can participate with us in public forums, write advocacy campaigns, and mobilize members to ensure that women's voices are heard and prioritized in making legislative decision making processes.
What networking benefits do you offer?
Networking in an organization like Women Empowering Women provides professional benefits such as access to mentorship, career advancement opportunities, and collaboration on projects, enhancing member skills and visibility.
Personally, it fosters a supportive community where members can share experiences, gain confidence, and build lasting friendships that contribute to personal growth and well-being.
Why Annapolis? Why Maryland?
Annapolis and Maryland state-wide need a group like WEW to address the social and economic disparities that many women face, especially in a community like ours, one that has a diverse population.
In 2021, 60% of women in Annapolis are working as cashiers, using up to 70% of their income for childcare. By providing support, mentorship, and resources, WEW can help these women overcome barriers to education, employment, and leadership opportunities.
Women Empowering Women can also play a vital role in advocating for policies that promote gender equity and social justice within Annapolis and Maryland. Through community engagement and legislative efforts, WEW can ensure that women's voices are prioritized in local decision-making.
Furthermore, WEW can build a stronger, more connected community by fostering collaboration among women from different backgrounds and experiences. This unity can lead to collective action on issues such as reproductive rights, affordable healthcare, and social services, ultimately creating a more inclusive and equitable Annapolis and Maryland for all women.
What is The Period Project?

It aims to reduce the stigma surrounding menstruation while promoting dignity and health for women experiencing homelessness, domestic violence, or financial hardship. By distributing these products and raising awareness, the project seeks to address a critical barrier to education, employment, and overall well-being for women in Annapolis and Maryland.
